Perks Come To Overwatch 2 With A Full-Season Event As Season 15 Gets Underway
Perks are the main attraction, by the undercard changes quite a bit, too.
Like most PvP-centric games, hero shooters have one common problem that never really ever goes away: balance. In a game like Overwatch 2 where new heroes are occasionally added, new modes (or tests of the old 6v6 mode) are released, and abilities are constantly being revamped, it can be hard to keep heroes relatively fair on the battlefield. What better way to complicate that problem a bit than by adding another new "Perks" system that lets players choose from two minor and two major perks during a match. These perks modify your hero's abilities mid-match to allow you to strategize a bit on the fly.
What could possibly go wrong? With a total of 168 perks available as of today's Season 15 launch, Blizzard says the new system will "continue to evolve with regular updates, ensuring it stays balanced, dynamic, and fun for all." How well they execute that will be interesting to watch.
In addition to the new system, Season 15 obviously unleashes a new battle pass (with the return of loot boxes outside of Belgium), a season-long event celebrating the launch of Perks, and the launch of a new competitive season.
While that's all available today, don't forget to brush up on everything the team revealed for future updates like the Stadium feature and two new heroes. There's a full list of individual videos on the official YouTube page showing off each of the upcoming features.
