Pearl Abyss To End Black Desert Online Halloween Festivities Early Following Tragic Event In South Korea
The early halt is out of respect.
If you weren’t paying attention to the news or social media this weekend, you may have missed hearing about a tragic event that occurred in South Korea on Saturday. During a Halloween celebration in Seoul, 154 people died in a crowd surge. At the moment, no one is sure what caused the surge, but we do know that a 475-member task force has been assigned to investigate the event. They’re currently reviewing footage from about 50 cameras and interviewing witnesses.
It’s a tragic turn of events during what was the largest Halloween celebration in the country since before the pandemic. There were more than 100,000 people in attendance in Seoul's Itaewon nightlife district.
In response to this event, Pearl Abyss announced yesterday that they would be bringing the Black Desert Online Halloween events to an early end. The events and promotions associated with them will end during maintenance on Wednesday, November 2. The developers ask for players’ understanding and promise more information will be made available during maintenance.
