If you were one of the many that had a rocky early access launch, here's a look at why.

Yesterday, Pax Dei had a bit of a rough day. Every MMO has a rough day when they launch or open up early access, but Mainframe Industries got a bit slammed by early negative reviews and most of those were centered around the game's performance. Since the initial "Mostly Negative" reviews poured in yesterday, the game has recovered to a "Mixed" status, as of this writing.

What was going on? We'll get to that in just a second, but first, I want to point out that the team has listed a few fixes on their X feed that have already been implemented or are coming soon. These fixes include plot placement issues, rubber-banding, and more.

Given that, let's jump right into the "War Room" and see what exactly was happening.

If you kept getting disconnected, that was probably due to the team restarting servers multiple times to try and mitigate a monster spawning issue that threw populations out of whack and stressed servers. If you remember how rabbits almost killed the Pax Dei servers during a past test, this was a very similar issue.

While a fix was eventually implemented, servers were restarted multiple times while the solution was tested.

On a more important note was players building on plots and not seeing their building actually happeneing. Turns out, it WAS happeneing, but a link to a database server was so flooded with making sure all players could see things built that it was taking about an hour for the placed item to display for all users. This was fixed, too, and was done so in a way that didn't impact anything built. If you were failing to get recipies, you'll want to check out the post, too.

It's a neat look inside the dev room on Day 1 for those of us that like the breakdowns on that type of thing.
