Pax Dei Addresses Player Concerns With "Daily Login Grace" And Other Market Related Questions
The "Grace" currency will be pretty important and some players hate that you get some just for logging in each day.
Last week, Pax Dei posted an initial reveal of their plans for gold in the MMORPG. It was a pretty basic reveal showing players that they would be able to build market stalls (or even market squares in cities) and sell their good to other players for said gold.
Mainframe Industries also teased a "Grace" system that allowed players to spend gold for a currency called Grace which, in turn, is used to perform various miracles (i.e. fast travel.) That was the end of the post.
So...
As I am sure you can guess, that led to MANY questions from Pax Dei players and, lucky for those players, the team has issued a follow-up blog addressing some of those questions.
On the subject of the market stalls themselves, things will be pretty basic at first and will gain features as development continues. You won't have any real customization options on the the way your stall appears or even it's shape. However, variants will come later. Other future improvements will also include logs, the ability to see where stalls are on the map, and the ability to search stalls without being directly at the stall. Again, the start is pretty basic and you have to walk to each stall you want to view.
Stalls will have their own inventory, separate from your personal inventory, though. Gold will also have a "Very Large Number" as the cap. A number players are unlikely to reach, according to the team.
However, there's a little more player concern from players over the "Grace" currency used to perform miracles like fast travel. You earn this currency just for logging in each day and you can spend gold to acquire some at increasing rates throughout the day. This inflation resets each day.
Players don't seem to like the way Mainframe is pushing daily logins and have even accused the team of setting a "dangerous precedent that is being set by the devs. All that tells me is they do not value my time, and are more interested in me logging into the game rather than providing a meaningful/entertaining way to gain Grace in order to teleport."
The team feels differently stating, "We sympathize with this sentiment. The reason we’re planning to use this mechanic here is not inspired by evil and manipulative industry standards, but because we think it's the best fit for the design goals we’re trying to achieve with Grace. Grace will be a hugely valuable resource that we want to be throttled by both time and in-game wealth and success (gold and social positions). We’ll share more details on Grace, Miracles and the Divine at a later point."
I guess we'll have to wait on those "more details" to see if players will be ok with the direction.
