Palia's been doing its "cozy MMO" thing for a while now. Hell, my oldest son just picked up the game this past week and is loving it. Frequent updates have brought quite a bit more to the game and addressed player concerns nicely in most regards.

What's the next step? Getting acquired apparently.

Singularity 6, Palia's developers, are now owned by Daybreak Game Company, thus pulling them under the ENAD Global 7 umbrella. In a post on the Singularity 6 site, the team recognizes that this may make some players nervous. Sure, Daybreak runs EverQuest, LOTRO, and other titles and has been around for a while now, but they don't exactly have the best track record with players sometimes.

Singularity 6 seems to be excited by the purchase, though. "The acquisition provides us with some incredible resources and support to continue developing Palia and elevate the product to meet the gold standard that our players expect, including engaging new content, impactful social features, and quality-of-life improvements across the board," says the team.

Under the new leadership, Singularity 6 says they will "continue to be run independently" by the company's co-founders, and that players should expect the current vision for the game to continue to be the driving force behind development.

You can read Daybreak's take on the acquisition on their site. It's about the same as Singularity 6's. "We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the S6 team to make Palia the best online experience possible across all major gaming platforms and to help continue expand their community of players for years to come,” says Ji Ham, CEO of Daybreak Games.

Will this be good for the game in the long run? Let us know your take on the acquisition.
