Pac-Man 99 Is Shutting Down After Being Available On Nintendo Switch Online For Two Years
The unique battle royale game will be as good as ghost come October.
Another battle royale game bites the dust.
Bandai Namco has announced that Pac-Man 99, which was a battle royale spin on the classic Pac-Man gameplay, is set to be shut down in October — two years after releasing. The online services for the game, which supports up to 99 players and was only available through Nintendo Switch Online, will go offline at that time. However, players who have purchased the Pac-Man 99 Deluxe Pack or Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock will still have the ability to play the game offline through modes like CPU Battle, Blind Time Attack, and Score Attack.
The game’s shutdown will be executed in a phased manner. Starting on August 8, sales of paid custom themes will be discontinued. Then, on September 8, sales of the Pac-Man 99 Deluxe Pack and Pac-Man 99 Mode Unlock will be halted. Finally, on October 8, the online services for the main game, which was developed by Arika, will be discontinued, and distribution of the main game and free custom themes will cease.
