Collaborations have always been a great way of developing content and noise around free-to-play titles. Fortnite has had major success in this area as they have done collabs with popular anime titles like Naruto and Dragon Ball Super. It would seem that Overwatch’s Vice President Jon Spector has been interested in these collaborations as well.

"We've seen some really fun examples out there of games working with other brands or other games," Spector tells Game Informer in an exclusive interview. "I'm a big anime nerd myself. I think it's super cool when I see Naruto appear in Fortnite. I don't even play Fortnite, but that's awesome. And as we look at the Overwatch 2 space, those are things that we're interested in exploring. If and when we do that, one of our key values is to do it in a way that feels like a great fit for the Overwatch franchise."

Spector explained that the team is "working to deliver more content for free than ever before, on a regular and consistent basis to players all over the world."

Overwatch’s new F2P model will rely heavily on premium Battle Passes that contain limited-time only Mythic skins, like the Cyber Demon Genji. Outside of this, the team is hoping to be able to provide other means of fun and free content to their players. Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
