It is, however, necessary for an Xbox store launch.

Predecessor 1-0 Expectations

We’re just about two weeks away from the launch of Omeda Studio’s third-person MOBA Predecessor. Before that happens, the dev team wants to lay out exactly what players should expect from the game’s transition from beta into 1.0.

In a post on the Predecessor site, the devs note that while the 1.0 status may imply to many that a game is complete and has gone gold, this is not the case for Predecessor…or really any live service game. Players should expect the game to keep evolving over time – and likely receive new fixes, as is the case with most online games these days.

The post goes on to state that despite this fact, the 1.0 update is the “most significant” in the game’s history, due to the number of features, improvements, and new content it brings. It also explains that one of the reasons behind the decision to drop 1.0 in a couple of weeks is that it’s necessary to move the game out of the limited Game Preview tab on the Xbox store and into full store status. Other benefits from this move include attracting new players and being able to roll out a wide marketing campaign.

As for what players should expect from Predecessor 1.0, it should offer an improved experience for new players just getting into the game. The goal is to help prepare them and teach them the core skills they’ll need to be able to compete. Ideally, they’ll be able to quickly grasp the elements of the game quickly.

Existing players (those coming in from beta) aren’t being ignored. The devs have been listening to player feedback and have made changes based on this. A feature they point out is offering players new ways to use Amber by purchasing Hero Affinity and Bundles. More ways will be added over time. Maps have been improved as well. Specifically, the devs have removed all vertical boundaries on maps.

There is a list of other changes as well, but these are all bullet points. Interestingly, the post does go into some of the marketing plans for the game. They include things like releasing a new trailer at Gamescom. More details on all of this are available on the Predecessor site.
