Now Console Players Get To Try The Elder Scrolls Online's Smaller PvP With Update 44's Launch Today
Companions, grimoires, and pursuits, oh my.
Update 44 has been live for PC players for a few weeks now in The Elder Scrolls Online, but today marks the day that the MMORPG's console players can get in on the free, base-game patch.
The largest inclusion in Update 44 is the massive shift in the way PvP works in the MMO. Previously, ESO featured 3-team PvP in battlegrounds. This meant that it was a 4v4v4 affair and now those player count requirements have been reduced to either 4v4 or 8v8 two-team battles.
To go along with fewer participating players, maps have been updated and there's even seven new maps of varying sizes. While queues should be a bit faster, it'll be interesting to see how ESO's console PvP players feel about the shift.
Two new companions are added by ways of High Elf Tanlorin and Khajiit Necromancer Zerith-var. Unlike the PvP portion of Update 44, these new companions do require either a purchase or an ESO Plus subscription to access.
Additional updates include changes to Grimoires, scripts, and styles, but remember, the new "Golden Pursuits" rewards feature isn't slated to drop until later this month.
