Not Long After Leaving, Former Dauntless Veterans From Phoenix Labs Form New Studio
Critical Path Games plans to create a new game genre.
It’s been about four months since Jesse Houston and Jeanne-Marie Owens revealed they would be stepping down from their positions as CEO and COO at Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs. At the time, Houston was said to be remaining on the board of directors while both would serve as advisors to the company.
Since then, it seems Houston and Owens have decided to team up and form a company of their own named Critical Path. According to LinkedIn, the new studio, located in Vancouver, will focus on creating a new game genre.
The duo have been working together on games for about fifteen years, beginning with their time at Riot Games. Houston co-founded Phoenix Labs in 2014. Now that they’ve stepped down, Owens and Houston have decided to take their experience and try something new. They are currently putting together a small team and encourage those interested to apply via the studio’s website.
