Nexon Q3 2022: HIT2, MapleStory, Dungeon&Fighter Drives Up Revenue, "Highest Annual Revenue" Ever For 2022
"2022 is shaping up to be a tremendous year for Nexon."
Nexon has released its third-quarter financial results that ended on September 30, 2022. Following the positive wave of revenue earnings from last quarter, Q3 saw a record-breaking 28% quarterly revenue increase thanks to impressive growth from HIT2, MapleStory, Dungeon&Fighter Mobile, and FIFA Online 4.
According to their outlook for Q3 2022, Nexon was well within the range of their assumptions, making ¥97.5 billion. The results are 28% year-over-year on an as-reported basis and up 16% on a constant currency basis. Their other results - from operating income up 6% to net income reaching 14% - landed within their projected results from last quarter and are determined to continue rising.
The shining stars heading the revenue increase have been doing serious numbers in Korea. HIT2 launched in August to a great start that "exceeded [their] expectations," achieving a "PC-like high retention rate." Dungeon&Fighter Mobile saw consistent revenue, FIFA Online 4 was at the high end of their initial outlook last quarter and "grew significantly," and MapleStory went up 56% to become its highest quarterly revenue in Korea.
CEO and President of Nexon, Owen Mahoney, had more to share for this earnings report that projects the company will "achieve the biggest full-year revenue in [its] 28-year history." Mahoney states with their "best pipeline of new games for global distribution on multiple platforms" in place, they've determined quite a monumental achievement for the company's future. "2022 is shaping up to be a tremendous year for Nexon, and our confidence in 2023 is growing."
