New World Talks Matchmaking & Service Improvements Including OPR, Expeditions, And Arenas
Cross-world expeditions "very soon".
Cross-world OPR has opened the door for cross-world expeditions and arenas "very soon" according to New World developers in today's episode of Forged in Aeternum.
Today's episode is a little bit dry as the devs talk about building back-end systems that allow them to tweak data instead of rewrite code when they want to make changes, but the important parts are that they are working on having systems in place that improve matchmaking and that cross-world expeditions and arenas sound like they are right around the corner.
On the wishlist of things New World could do to improve the game for me is cross-world expeditions with a proper dungeon finder UI. Right now players have to open their maps and go to each expedition they want to run to see if any groups are forming. It's quite jank, but it sounds like a much better system is on the way.
