New World Showcases Their Summer Medleyfaire
Who doesn’t love some concept art?
New World’s latest blog post has given us an immersive look at the settings and characters for the Summer Medleyfaire. “The main inspiration for the Summer Medleyfaire came from modern music festivals,” said Concept Artist Andy Lee. “We wanted bright and colorful palettes to represent the excitement of summer and leaned heavily on coastal or beach motifs like bonfires, tiki torches, and grilling.”
The color scheme focused around bright colors of teal, a sherbet orange, and sunrise yellow.
As for characters, Admiral Brute was a character that was created with a look as if he had been taken over by the sea. He was meant to have the right ratio of human to creature pieces and maintained a human silhouette, but still had the sea creature aspects like a crab clawed hand and coral and barnacles decorating his body. As for the Maelstrom Siren, “I was going for something enigmatic and deep sea feeling, and was inspired by various coals and arthropods with a bit of fish influence,” said Concept Artist Allison Theus. “We wanted her to read clearly as an Angry Earth Creature.”
