New World Drops The Hammer On More Than 1200 Exploiters
The bans included the removal of almost all duped items in the game.
It would appear that Amazon is not playing around when it comes to dealing with people willing to use exploits in New World to their benefit – particularly those pesky duping exploits that have popped up a couple of times in various areas of the game. You may remember that recently, the game’s dev team shut down wealth transfers in order to handle just such an issue, for the second time. They also stated that they’d be dealing with anyone caught abusing the exploit, and dealing they seem to be doing.
Yesterday, November 15, a post from the team on the game’s forums revealed that as of that writing, they’d banned over 1200 players and removed their items from the game’s economy as well as canceled the trade post listings. This actually occurred on November 2, and the result was that more than 80% of coins and items in the game had been removed. Since then, they’ve been working on removing the rest of the items and, as of yesterday, 460 more players have been kicked from the game along with 98% of the items that were left after the November 2 sweep. According to the post, the items that are left are the result of players who accidentally came across the exploit but didn’t actually try to exploit it. In other words, they likely duped something by accident once and either reported the issue or just steered clear.
If you’re wondering how this whole thing has affected end game progression, Amazon says it really hasn’t. There’s no indication of a sudden increase in max-level gear. What with dupes of high-level gear being removed with the ban sweeps, the rare items are still, in fact, rare.
