New World Devs Try Out A Different Kind Of Dev Stream Examining Play Styles
The short-form series starts with a look at play styles.
If there’s anything that can be said about the New World dev team, it’s that they really try to communicate with their player base. Generally, this is done via the New World Dev update live streams, but it seems they’ve decided to try something a bit different this time – something that seems like it might be a tad easier to digest. The dev update stream typically holds a lot of information delivered in a pretty informal manner. This new thing is still pretty informal, but it’s more condensed and focuses on a single topic.
The "Forged in Aeternum" series is a new show in which the developers will cover all things New World. They’ll just be doing it one thing at a time. The premiere video of the series is a five-minute delve into play styles. The video features Game Director Scot, Creative Director Dave V., and Product Manager Drew. They discuss how each of them approaches the game personally. Spreadsheets are involved.
We all know everyone has their own way of approaching an MMO, so it’s interesting to see how game developers go about it. And, videos like this let players know that the devs do, in fact, play the game too. For those of you wanting more behind-the-scenes type content, this is a good place to start.
