New World’s April Update Fixes 1500 In-Game Defects, Adds Targeted Healing, And There Is Only More To Come In May
April showers bring May Flowers, but May brings PvP Arenas.
Amazon Games’ New World has officially been live for six months and boy have they come a long way. In this month's Dev Update video, a lot of exciting things were mentioned. While this month is focused on quality-of-life features, the following month has new PvP activities planned that are sure to excite players.
April’s update, sadly, has no new content for New World as the ultimate goal was to make the game more fun and more natural to play. To start, 1500 defects have been fixed in the game, along with 600 minor ones. The update also added some important additions that make the game easier and probably should have been there from the beginning. For example, now when players are in a settlement and they open their map, the map is already zoomed in to the settlement that they’re in. Another very vital one, literally, is the addition of targeted healing. Now players can pick and choose which members in their party they want to heal and, if they’re feeling a bit toxic, which ones they don’t.
Next, upcoming events...or current events really. Players are sure to have noticed by this point the large number of corrupted rabbits that have infested the game. While not the cutest bunnies, they are dropping some great loot; like the special lucky rabbit's foot totem. Plus, there is also a very exclusive rare drop that can be gained from these rabbits: the Corrupted Rabbits Chest that players can use to decorate their home. There will also be a summer event to come, but no information has been released yet.
The next update is very pvp focused. New World is introducing a PvP Reward Track, a new currency–PvP Salt–and PvP Arenas. Starting with the PvP Reward Track, this feature will allow players to gain rewards for engaging in PvP and allow players to level up and show off their general progression number. The new currency, PvP Salt, is supposedly the salt of an enemies' tears. This currency will be rewarded for engaging in all kinds of PvP activities.
A challenging new addition for the next update will be PvP Arenas. The fights will be 3v3 and best of 5. There will be lots of rewards to earn and players can either team up or join a solo queue. A great addition in this battle system is that running away will be close to impossible. During the fight, a ring of fire will slowly close in on both teams (think battle royale fog) and push everyone closer together to force a fight and more importantly, a winner.
Another important update that is soon to come will be the very much desired Expedition Finder. Now when in search of a party, players can use this tool rather than using the chat function that in this day and age for an MMO just seems barbaric. More work is being done on regional transfers and should open up soon after April’s update. There will also be paid character transfers available soon after the update as well.
Our bow-wielding friends might have hoped for a more balanced weapon, but that is still in the works and may take a bit more time. Still, all-in-all, April’s update will definitely help the game feel more natural, and the pvp additions in the following update are sure to be interesting.
