New World: Aeternum's Cursed Mists PvP Zone Wants To "Discourage Massive Murder Balls Of Allied Players"
The zone could be a great way to snag 700+ gear, but if it isn't fun...
One week away. Next Tuesday, October 15th, Amazon Games will unleash New World: Aeternum on PC and consoles. It's kind of been a long time coming and really just may be the MMO's last hurrah. Things really need to work out here given the challenges the title has had for the last year.
We've already talked about raiding coming to the game, but now in a new post from the devs we take a look at PvP.
Cutlass Keys is a dangerous place, but the rewards are worth it if you can get in and out safely. That's the problem, though. An open PvP zone attracts the good and the bad alike. The team has had some interesting, and sometimes hysterical, testing going on and it'll need a lot of testing when it's made widely available. People shouldn't be able to injure or heal players from outside the zone...an issue that's already been addressed.
Be warned. Heading into the zone now removes any ties you have with others. Your group, Company, and Faction no longer matter. Yes, you can "accidentally" injure your friends. In fact, it'll be harder to "group" up in the zone. This is intentional. The team doesn't want the PvP zone to becoming a hunting grounds for "massive murder balls" of allied players.
This zone is a bit of an experiment, though. It'll have light extraction features, add a new currency used to earn new rewards, and will allow hundreds of players fight without the limitations of a server boundary.
Now for the real question: will it be fun? We'll see.
