New Studio Founded By Former Gearbox, Bethesda, and Epic Games Devs Share First Look At Multiplayer Invasion Game Set In The American Heartland
Become the heroes your town needs.
A new game developer made up of former team members from several well-known companies was revealed today along with its first project, a multiplayer cooperative game set in the American heartland where players take on the roles of regular people forced to protect their town from invasion by strange forces.
The company, Ruckus Games, is based in Frisco, Texas, and boasts staff from Gearbox Software, Epic Games, Bethesda Softworks, and more. According to a press release from the studio’s CEO and Game Director Paul Sage, their focus is on “games that are physical, joyous, and just a damn good time to be shared with others”.
We don’t have a name for the game yet, but Ruckus Games has shared information on the project describing it as offering “cooperative play for up to four players in an evolving world that will be updated with new emergent content over time”. The game will feature a roster of characters and make-shift weapons, as well as a destructible environment that will allow players to obtain what they need to create the weapons. Players can also rescue NPCs and bring them back to town, a hub where they can hang out and craft items.
Ruckus just received a $19 million investment from Krafton (PUBG) since the company, "has demonstrated incredible progress with a small team in a short period of time. They've crafted something so on-trend, with stylish action and humour, that it not only entertains but also connects players in memorable ways – a vision that strongly resonates with Krafton,"
While the game is in early enough development, it doesn’t have a name yet. Ruckus is, however, looking for potential playtesters. Those interested in taking part can sign up on the company’s site.
