Multiple Videos Show Off New Story, Zones, Raid... Everything Coming In World Of Warcraft's The War Within
The War Within is the MMORPG's tenth major update, featuring the start of the Worldsoul Saga.
What can we expect in The War Within? Let’s find out!
In a new video, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, Associate Art Director Tina Wang, and Bethany discussed the next World of Warcraft update. The tenth expansion to the MMORPG heralds the commencement of the Worldsoul Saga, characterized by its monumental narrative ambitions. Beloved characters are endangered, and the foundation of the world they inhabit is under threat.
Central to the storyline is Xal'atath, a villain whose design pays homage to her imprisonment in a Priest Artifact Weapon. She was liberated by N'Zoth, setting the stage for a new journey that delves deep into the conflicts brewing within Azeroth.
Familiar faces like Alleria and Anduin navigate their own internal turmoil amidst the external threats, portraying a struggle for redemption and hope against the backdrop of impending doom. The expansion unveils new zones, such as the Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, and Azj-Kahet. These places offer diverse landscapes, environments, narratives, and challenges.
As for gameplay, there’s new raid content like Nerub'ar Palace — where players face off against powerful adversaries within the inner sanctums of the Nerubian empire. Also, features introduced are Warbands and flying mounts. The Alpha phase is underway and Beta is on the horizon, so player feedback and testing will play a crucial role in shaping the final product.
We even get to see Executive Producer and VP of World of Warcraft Holly Longdale chat with MrGM about the franchise's future.
