New Lost Ark Dev Blog Addresses War Against Botting, Hacking, And Gold-Selling
"Since Lost Ark launched, we’ve been fighting a war against the bots infiltrating Arkesia."
Today, the latest Lost Ark developer blog finally addresses tactics to deal with bots in the game. While the effort will help peel back the number of bots, it has been "challenging" for the devs since the title is a free-to-play game.
The measures that the team have taken so far range from "permanently [banning] several million accounts that participated in botting, hacking, gold-selling," and "level-gated area chat to keep brand-new accounts from spamming gold-selling" ads. Of course, they've also improved their "Easy Anti Cheat detection capabilities to better identify and act against bots," which is good and could be strengthened with the "improved reporting tools in-game."
These modifications to combat the botting issue have been successful, but the devs did state their battle is "far from over." However, further details about their process will not be revealed to keep bot users in the dark about their other tactics. Additionally, they mentioned how "tools like Captcha or two-factor authentication" that the community-recommended would be tough to implement in Lost Ark due to the platform's size and the architectural changes needed, effectively uprooting the game globally. They will continue to "explore [their] options for additional tools that are scalable and could make a significant impact" as they deal with botting in Lost Ark.
