New-look The Cycle: Frontier Hits Closed Beta September 30
Revamped version of the game touts greater risks for prospectors.
The new iteration of Yager's The Cycle -- now called The Cycle: Frontier -- heads into closed beta tomorrow, September 30. The PvPvE shooter is now touted as being more competitive, with prospectors risking their gear every time they head down to the planet of Fortuna to extract its riches.
As we learned last week, this means that the old version of the game will no longer be available, though most cosmetics players have earned in that version will be carried over.
Included in this test are player quarters aboard the orbiting Fortuna station, as well as offices for the three factions: Osiris, Korolev, and ICA. These will hand out quests for prospectors to complete, earning them reputation that can be used to acquire new tools, upgrades, and weapons.
There's no indication of when the beta will end, though Yager intends to fully launch The Cycle: Frontier in the first half of 2022. You can get into the beta by registering on the game's Steam page or, if you prefer the Epic Games Store, via a page on The Cycle website.
