New Hunter Taurus Brings A Dark Backstory To The Launch Of Steel Hunters' First Season
Now, can we get the game on consoles?
Time for a new hunter and a slew of cosmetics for both free and paid players in Wargaming's F2P mech shooter Steel Hunters. Today marks the launch of the game's first season, and Taurus, a new horned Hunter, is available in both the "Pro" and "Premium" battle passes.
If you aren't paying cash for that pass, don't worry. First, all tiers of the pass are able to be unlocked by free players. Second, the game's premium currency, Platinum, is able to be gathered by free players. Complete combat missions, farm it up, then use it to buy the upgraded battle passes for the additional rewards.
As for the hew Hunter, Taurus has a bit of a darker backstory as shown in the preview video below. The raging, horned bull brings aggression to the battlefield, an aggression that comes from a dark place built up over years. The ending of the preview video is very well done, make sure to give it a watch.
In addition to a new hunter and plenty of new cosmetics, season 1 drops quite a few improvements based on player feedback. The game's HUD has had a design pass and clutter has been reduced, ammo recharge has been sped up when you're low on mags, melee combat gets faster, and credit costs for skill nodes have been reduced in cost by 50%. In all, things should feel a bit more action-y and the presentation should allow a clearer understanding of how the battle is unfolding.
The full patch notes also detail a bit of a rework for you Heartbreaker mains.
