New Fortnite Update Introduces The “Rise of Midas” Event And A New Floor Is Lava Mode
Players can also test their skills in the competitive solo Rise of Midas Cup.
Fortnite got that Midas touch, both literally and figuratively.
In the latest update, V29.01, the notorious Midas makes a daring escape from The Underworld — causing chaos in the process. Players are invited to participate in the “Rise of Midas” event, aiding him in his escape through a series of quests while unlocking exclusive in-game rewards. The story unfolds in five phases, with each phase offering new challenges and rewards until the conclusion on April 2.
Alongside the battle royale's Rise of Midas quests, the Floor is Lava mode makes a return; but now, it’s infused with Midas's golden touch. Players must navigate the treacherous terrain while contending with golden lava and completing associated quests for additional rewards. Cosmetic items themed around Midas, including outfits, back bling, pickaxes, and wraps, will be available for purchase in the in-game shop in the meanwhile.

Also, players can test their skills in the Rise of Midas Cup — a competitive solo event where participants compete for points by achieving high placements and eliminations. Top performers in each region can earn exclusive rewards, including the Ascendant Midas Outfit and Golden King’s Cape Back Bling. The update introduces new mythic powers like the Chains of Hades and the Shield Bubble Jr., as well as several bug fixes addressing various issues for a smoother gaming experience.
