Did you catch Pearl Abyss’ annual Calpheon Ball in South Korea?

At the MMORPG's event, the company announced several updates coming to Black Desert Online. The most notable one is the introduction of a new region, Seoul, inspired by the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This addition follows the previous expansion, The Land of the Morning Light, continuing to explore the Joseon-era-inspired setting. The new region promises to incorporate Korean history and folklore, with a landscape and villages designed with historical references. Alongside Seoul, players can expect Fallen God Tier weapons, surpassing the current top-tier weapon — PEN Blackstar.

The Calpheon Ball 2023 also featured the reveal of a new class called the Scholar, wielding two hammers and specializing in AoE damage. This class can merge the two hammers into a giant sledgehammer for devastating attacks. The Scholar is set to be globally released on December 20, with console players getting access shortly after. Another class wielding a Do (a Korean military sword) with magic-based abilities was teased for release alongside upcoming content in The Land of the Morning Light.

Quality-of-life changes were also highlighted during the event, addressing inventory management and streamlining travel. Players can expect a new inventory management tab, an all-in-one inventory preset, and improvements to reduce clutter. Additionally, older questlines are undergoing remastering efforts, with the Serendia main questline being reworked to enhance the player experience.

Other improvements include a new search function for quests and a UI refresh for easier navigation. The Monster grind zones are receiving buffs, too, to make them more rewarding, addressing feedback from recent zones that were deemed less enjoyable. Console fans can expect a next-gen update — to be showcased in summer 2024.

Looking ahead, the Heidel Ball is scheduled to take place on June 24 next year at Chateau de Beynac in France.
