New Beta For Turn-based RPG Broken Ranks Kicks Off Today
Multiplayer questing is still iffy, but at least you can play as a female character now.
Another beta for turn-based RPG Broken Ranks has kicked off, and the focus this time around is on questing. As developer Whitemoon Games mentioned on its Facebook page, "the quality of quests was unexpectedly high" in previous tests, but there's always room for improvement.
Specifically, it was difficult to quest with other players, because the game's difficulty is tuned more for single-player titles than MMORPGs. Whitemoon games pointed out several of the accomodations that have been made to facilitate group play, as well as some of the pitfalls that can come when a player disconnects or other issues with quest-syncing arise.
Also new with this beta: female characters. That seems like the sort of thing that should have been in the game all along, but they are awfully difficult to animate. Whitemoon has also addressed several technical issues with the game, so the servers should be able to handle a bigger load of players and will run smoother overall.
You can still get into the beta by registering on the game's website. The current beta runs until Sunday, September 19 at noon Pacific.
