Neverwinter Still "Fully Committed" To The MMORPG Despite Team Changes
Module 30 is inbound and Modules 31 and 32 are "in the pipeline".
Soon, some familiar faces in the Star Trek Online and Neverwinter communities will no longer be part of the MMORPGs' teams. Earlier this month, we reported on expected layoffs hitting both games this month as Embracer Group continues migrating control of the titles to DECA.
Ironically, we never saw an official post on the sites for either Star Trek Online or Neverwinter. Sure, the topic came up in the forums, but there was no post. The news really just came from a brief mention on a stream.
Today, we finally get an acknowledgement on the official Neverwinter site. While nothing is on the Star Trek Online site yet, I would imagine we'll see a similar post there soon.
The team really wants you to know that the MMO isn't going anywhere by saying, "While recent changes within our team have been challenging, we want to emphasize that these adjustments have not affected our production schedule or the quality of content you can expect. We remain dedicated to delivering the best possible experience for our players."
Specific to Neverwinter, the post also states that Module 30 is inbound soon, and the team has both Module 31 and 32 in the pipeline right now. Expect to see some more on those early next year.
Here's the thing, though. This is a VERY stock looking statement. We literally saw the same types of statements made when gamigo bought Trion Worlds. How has that worked out for Rift so far?
Obviously we're talking about different companies here, but are Neverwinter and Star Trek Online "safe"? What do you think the future holds for either or both?
