Neverwinter Reveals The Control Wizard Class
Perfect World Entertainment just released a new class preview video for their upcoming Dungeons and Dragons inspired MMO, Neverwinter. The video unveils the first playable class called the Control Wizard.
This isn't some run-of-the-mill wizard type you will find at your local Waverly Wands Emporium. Heck, these wizards don't even use wands! Instead they weave their magic spells using intricate hand motions, allowing them to "control" the flow of the battle using various spell types.
According to the introductory video (featured above), Control Wizards are masters of elemental and control magic, conjuring various forms of ice attacks which stun or push enemies back, and teleporting to evade damage. One of the first "daily" powers a Control Wizard can obtain is the Ice Storm ability, which allows a player to conjure ice spikes from the floor, flinging enemies in all directions away from the wizard. Useful in both singular situations and in group settings when your party is in need of a little breathing room.
The narrator notes that these abilities are all available early on in your journey to become a proficient Control Wizard, which makes me glad I won't have to worry about hitting 1-2-111-2 on my keyboard for the first few hours of my Neverwinter experience.
