MultiVersus Is Bringing Two Of Our Favorite Goth Ladies To The Fight, But Gets Blamed For WB's Profit Decline
Teen Titan’s Raven and Adventure Time’s Marceline join the roster of characters.
Warner Bros. MultiVersus is getting a bit of goth girl action on November 12 when Season 4: Midnight Misfits drops. The new season adds to the brawler’s roster of characters both an important member of DC’s Teen Titans – Raven, and Adventure Time’s vampire queen, Marceline.
Raven joins the roster as a mage using dark magic and telekinetic skills in combat. She’s assisted by her raven, Lenore, who can extend combos. Marceline will arrive later in the season, meaning she will get her own trailer and her abilities will be showcased then. The trailer for Raven can be watched below.
In addition to the new characters, the new season will also introduce an Arena mode in which eight teams of two players compete in round-based competitive matches. Two new maps are on the way as well. The first, “Back to the Past”, is inspired by Samurai Jack. The second, “Candy Tavern” is based on a location in the Adventure time series.
Behind the scenes, however, MutliVersus may not be doing all that well since its relaunch. On their latest earnings call, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels specifically called out the brawler when talking about the department's missed expectations mark. "Results were impacted by games for which we took another $100 million plus impairments due to the underperforming releases, primarily multiverses this quarter, bringing total write-downs year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business. A key factor in this year's Studio profit decline," said Wiedenfels.
"Underperforming" isn't a word you like to see said about your favorite live service title.
