Multiversus Leak

While nothing is confirmed, the MultiVersus leak account on Twitter claims Lord of the Rings content may have been cut after multiple references to the Tolkien series were removed from the game's files. News had spread from the account on August 15, but some speculate yesterday's Embracer Group acquisition of The Lords of the Rings and other properties may be the culprit.

The Twitter account, @Multiversusie, stated the Eye of Sauron trophy, some of the Mordor and Hobbiton soundtracks, and Barra-dur from the background of Trophy's Edge are missing from the files. There are still some files related to the series, the leaker notes, but most affiliated with LoTR have been removed.

This comes months after an original leak suggesting Gandalf would join the game and the Tolkein Estate gatekeeping the character from appearing in MultiVersus. Now, no one is really certain after Embracer Group just acquired the rights to The Lord of the Rings.

Though, commenters under the Twitter thread believe the MultiVersus devs may have started cleaning out the files. The game has been constantly datamined and leaked for quite some time so it's possible, or maybe the content in question needed to be re-evaluated. Regardless, players shouldn't get their hopes up for Gandalf or anything related to the series for the time being.
