MultiVersus Fans Say Double XP Change To Max Out Character Mastery Is "Super Unfriendly To New Players"
The devs sought to make the change "a bit more of a journey," but it's backfiring.
Player First Games recently released MultiVersus' 1.03 open beta patch that debuted the enigmatic Rick Sanchez to the roster, loading improvements across consoles, yet unfortunately, an unwanted doubled XP requirement for character mastery between ranks 3-15. Fans took to Reddit to express the change was "super unfriendly to new players and people wanting to try characters out," making the leveling process "a chore to play."
The devs decided to double the XP requirement because players were supposedly reaching rank 15 faster than they intended. Introducing the double requirement would "help [them] make it a bit more of a journey," but according to fans, the change makes it all the harder to gain "all the necessary perks" that give you an advantage. One user's hot take on Reddit proposes the change was to make "XP boosters appealing" because why grind when you can buy it?
The double XP isn't the only gripe players have with the patch, though. Many are waiting on online connectivity fixes and improved netcode. All in all, the general sentiment about the update is that Player First Games fumbled the bag, claimed by one user to be "another empty update."
People are upset and disappointed despite additions to the title; is there something you would like to see the devs improve on for the next update?
