multiversus season 2 feat

The second season of MultiVersus starts tomorrow and, in addition to new seasonal rewards, the fighting game will finally pick up a Ranked Mode. Players can now compete for a spot on the 1v1 and 2v2 leaderboards starting on July 23rd.

On the new map side of things, the Water Tower map will be added. Obviously the Warner Bros. water tower is iconic in its own right, but the map will not only feature the titular tower, but it also hides a few easter eggs for Warner Bros. Discover fans. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

The big addition to MultiVersus is always the new characters. When the season starts tomorrow, Samurai Jack finds his way into battle. The Bruiser class character mixes it up with agility and his mystical katana blade. The video below shows gameplay but it also reveals the Righteous Warrior Jack variant, but that'll be a cash shop thing.

Later in season 2, players will also see Beetlejuice added to the roster just in time for the launch of the movie's sequel.

Outside of the game, Warner Bros. Games has made the decision to acquire the MultiVersus developer, Player First Games. According to the announcement, Player First Games will still be managed by founders Tony Huynh and Chris White. "“We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Games. “The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”

“Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall,” Huynh said. “We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”

Whether this will be a good thing for the fighter long-term will remain to be seen.
