Ubisoft Shutting down games

In order to “focus its resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles,” Ubisoft has decided to close down multiplayer servers for many games starting September 1. While most of the games are several years old, the fact that they are still up and running must mean some people are still using the online services and, for them, this is a sad day. Below is the list of some of the games that will be going “offline”.

• Anno 2070

•Assassin’s Creed 2

• Assassin’s Creed 3

• Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

• Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD

• Assassin’s Creed Revelations

• Driver San Francisco

• Far Cry 3

• Ghost Recon Future Soldier

• Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

• Rayman Legends

• Silent Hunter 5

• Space Junkies

• Splinter Cell: Blacklist

• ZombiU

The reason behind this decision will hopefully allow Ubisoft to “focus [their] resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles." While sad news, this really is the best way to dedicate more time, energy, and resources into new and upcoming games and will definitely not be the last time Ubisoft, or another company, decides to take some of their titles “offline”.

For players that are enjoying the remastered versions of Far Cry 3 or Assassin’s Creed 2, there is no need to worry, as both those titles (for now) will remain untouched and unaffected. If players would like to see the full list of games, they can do so by checking out the official post by Ubisoft, here.
