Mirage Online Classic Preps For Second Round Of Beta Testing
Earlier this year, retro 2-D MMORPG Mirage Online conducted its first open beta. It will shock all of you to learn that the first open beta is being followed by ... a second beta! This one is closed however, and since the game isn't made by Valve, there's even a chance they'll manage to get to #3 someday.
That's getting a little ahead of ourselves, though. The second open beta is scheduled to start in mid-May and will address the feedback gathered from players during the previous test. Accordingly, there's a long list of items labeled as "completed or nearing completion," such as reconfigurable keyboard controls, snow and fog weather effects, the ability to choose a respawn location, and a "Hardcore" game mode, where death reverts your character to level one.
In addition, "the engine was completely revamped in some areas to provide a better browser, mobile and Steam experience," which includes a 7,000%(!) better client/server performance, and security was beefed up to help prevent exploits. You can read the complete patch notes and sign up for the beta on the Mirage Online Classic site.
