MiHoYo GDC Presentation: Genshin Impact's 4 Other Nations Will Roll Out Over 4 Years
The Game Developers Conference has been taking place this week, with a myriad of different panels on a wide variety of different subjects taking place. As expected from the event, a lot of those topics are likely more relevant to game developers than the general public. But sometimes even content directed at the developers can answer player questions. One example this week comes from a panel hosted by Chinese Developer miHoYo titled: "'Genshin Impact': Crafting an Anime Style Open World".
The panel, hosted by Genshin Impact Producer and miHoYo CEO Hayou 'Hugh' Cai, primarily focused on why the company decided to go with an anime style for the game, how they looked to real-world countries to inspire the countries in game, and the process of character creation. The whole thing can be read about on Famitsu. (I ran it through Google Translate for you.)
Of course, if you're not a game developer, you may not be as interested in all that. But, what you might be interested to know is that during the panel, miHoYo revealed that they plan to roll out the remaining four nations over the next four years. That's right, they seem to be planning a nation a year rollout.
This makes a bit of sense as the game launched with two nations already in play and just launched the third -- and only half of it at that. Since the game launched in September of last year, it seems a year for each nation in Teyvat is about right.

Gotta correct that headline, it is "countries" or nations if you will. From a datamined full world map, all the nations with exception of Inazuma are in the same landmass.
