Microsoft Reportedly Hires Lawyer Known For His Success In Cases Against The UK’s CMA
It’s really no surprise that they haven’t given up yet.
Microsoft hasn’t given up on trying to convince regulators to let it go ahead and purchase Activision Blizzard. Not that any of us are terribly surprised by that. The company has already invested a lot of time and effort – and money if it doesn’t go through – into this thing. Of course, since the company does have plenty of money, they’ve reportedly decided to throw it at obtaining a lawyer known for taking on the EU’s Competition and Markets Authority following its recent decision to block the purchase of the World of Warcraft developer.
The lawyer, Daniel Beard KC - who will reportedly be filing an appeal just days from now – is known for getting decisions made by the CMA overturned. He’s litigated on behalf of Apple and Intel, overturning fines for both companies. Now, it seems Microsoft is hoping for the same results.
Of course, the UK is not the only country Microsoft is still trying to convince to allow the merger to go through. Both the EU and the US are still investigating.
