Phil Spencer Says Microsoft Has The "Desire" To Keep Call Of Duty On PlayStation
Obviously, existing contracts would still be honored, as well.
While Microsoft won’t officially own Activision Blizzard for some time yet (provided the deal is approved legally) and some of the games impacted by the purchase aren’t on PlayStation anyway, there is some concern among players as to how this change will impact the Activision Blizzard titles that are available for them to play on the PlayStation. This is particularly true of the games under the Call of Duty banner.
It seems there’s good news on that front. Today, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer revealed that he’d been communicating with Sony throughout the week regarding the future of these titles. According to his tweet, Microsoft intends to “honor all existing agreements” once the acquisition is finalized and that they “desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation”. He also goes on to say that Sony is important to the industry and that Microsoft values their relationship.
Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.

As stated, this seems like really good news for players. Of course, there are things we don’t know – such as how long the current agreements are set for or if something may change between Sony and Activision Blizzard in the meantime. What we do know is that there are still issues affecting the current development of the Call of Duty games, such as the ongoing strike among QA contractors. That is, obviously, less than good news.
