Developers Piranha Games revealed MechWarrior Online's long-coming May patch notes today, launching the Event Mode Queue and improving the Skill Tree. After being in the works for "almost [two] years," this massive update is finally here, and there are more to come within the next month.

The Event Queue Mode is a new feature that gives the developers wiggle room to mix and match various game modes, maps, mechs, and special modifiers to "provide variety." This flexibility allows them to create new gameplay experiences for their core audience and change them regularly when content gets stale. Additionally, skill tree improvements will help make it easier for players to have fun with their Mechs by "significantly [reducing] the number of clicks and time it takes" and removing the need to take skills you don't want or need. Piranha put together a video (below) of five things you should know about the skill tree to help you out.

Piranha also has updated the Mech Quirk Display, making Quirks "color-coded and categorized" by their type. The change will help separate the default Quirks from the Skill Tree Quirks. Outside of improvements, two new Platinum Collections are coming today, with Mechs such as Spider SDR-5D and King Crab KGC-000 for the Inner Sphere and Incubus INC-4 and Vapor Eagle VGL-3 versions for Clans. Each collection comes with four Platinum Mechs, four Mech Bays, Pattern unlocks, and a 30% C-bill boost for Platinum Mechs.

Sometime in June for MechWarrior Online, the Crusader mech will arrive, becoming the first new Mech in three years. Also, there's a new Quick Play map and other features to round out May's improvements next month.
