Marvel's Avengers Walks Back The Cash Shop Sale of Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractors
Announcement says they didn't see them as "pay-to-win."
Just shy of a month ago, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix decided that it was time the go back on a previous promise and rolled XP boosts into the cash shop for the multiplayer game Marvel's Avengers. It isn't hard to see WHY they may have wanted to do this given the player base size struggles the game continues to endure, but a promise is, in fact, a promise, so players weren't too pleased.
Today, the team has decided to rollback that move. In an announcement on Twitter the team said:
We have decided that by the end of today we will remove Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractors for purchase. pic.twitter.com/8am9nSstP2

It's kind of weird to me that the argument in the tweet is that the team didn't see them as "pay-to-win" when the real argument was that the company had previously promised not to sell things like Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment Extractor and then did so anyway.
It only took 4 weeks of silence on the topic to come to this rollback decision...but I guess at least players got what the wanted...now will it be enough to get some of them back in the game while waiting for content (and Spider-Man, still!)
