Mario Strikers-Inspired Ice Hockey Game "Goons: Legends & Mayhem" Announced
The multiplayer chaos on ice experience drops next month on PC, PS5, and Xbox X|S.
What if Mario Strikers and ice hockey had a baby?
Firestoke and RageCure Games have announced Goons: Legends & Mayhem, a sports game that promises a blend of sports, action, and special abilities — delivering multiplayer chaos on the ice. With a variety of PvP and PvE modes, including a full story campaign, Goons supports 1-6 players and offers matches ranging from 1 vs 1 to 3 vs 3. Players can choose from eight characters, each belonging to one of three classes: sharpshooter, enforcer, or wingman, with unique abilities such as explosive mines and teleportation.
In the game’s story campaign, players embark on a whimsical journey across diverse ice rinks, from forests to pirate ships, aiming to thwart the Grand Mascoteer's plot to ruin hockey. Along the way, they'll encounter epic goaltender bosses, recruit eccentric heroes, and collect various cosmetic items and goodies. Goons’ environments add depth to the gameplay, featuring unique mechanics, hazards, and goaltenders to defeat; the besieged castle of King Patrick presents challenges like shapeshifting wizards and penguins armed with catapults.
Francis Tremblay, the game’s director, said, “Goons: Legends & Mayhem has been a challenging project for our small team, and I'm very proud of what we were able to accomplish over the last three years. Fun has always been the primary focus for the game, so I wish you plenty of enjoyment and I'm looking forward to seeing you on the rink."
Goons is set to launch on April 11 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There’s also a Nintendo Switch release coming later on in the year.
