MapleStory's Next Major Update "New Age: Into The Abyss" Drops Today, But You're Getting Even More Later This Month
There's a new area with quests and a boss for those over Level 280, plus Extreme versions of Kaling and Kalos.
MapleStory’s latest update, "New Age: Into the Abyss,” drops today.
This update introduces several features and challenges for players. They can now explore the MMO's new area, Battleship Arteria, facing Reina — the apostle of Darmoor — and her high flora army aboard a sinister warship. Completing quests in this high-level zone with a character of Level 280 or higher allows players to obtain the Sacred Symbol: Arteria.
The update also brings heightened difficulty levels for challenging bosses Kaling and Kalos, now available in Extreme mode — offering new rewards such as the Helmet of Loyalty and the Mark of Destruction. Additionally, the Tisk Food Storehouse Event continues, presenting limited-time quests where players can assist islanders in protecting their food storehouse from monsters and earn valuable rewards and EXP.

There’s also the holiday "Home Maplemas" event, allowing players to decorate their Maple Homes with festive furnishings and expansions. On December 19, the update extends further with the Abyssal Expedition — featuring deep fissures in the Minar region. Players can form teams to explore these mysterious abysses, gaining powerful equipment and skills through strategic navigation.
Then on January 9, an all-new area called Carcion, Cradle of Life will be introduced. Players can join forces with the Maple Alliance to uncover a sinister plot, reconcile ideals, and thwart Darmoor's apostle in this region. Completing quests in Carcion with a character of Level 285 or higher grants the Sacred Symbol: Carcion.
