Magic: Legends' Open Beta Now Live, Secure Your Free Bonus Gifts On Arc And EGS
Nearly four years after its initial announcement, you can finally get your hands on Magic: Legends. Cryptic Studios' ARPG based on Magic: the Gathering is now live in open beta, and you can read my first impressions of the game from my hour-long play session earlier this month.
Magic: Legends puts you in the role of a Planeswalker, traveling among the planes of the Magic Multiverse to fight against powerful evil forces that threaten all existence. Along the way, you'll enlist several prominent characters of Magic lore to aid you in your efforts.
There are several classes to choose from, such as the fire-wielding Geomancer, manipulative Mind Mage, and dastardly Necromancer. Your deck loadout consists of 12 spells that will rotate through your hotbar quickslots as you play, along with three abilities -- two on cooldowns and one ultimate that's charged as you play -- per class. There are over 175 spells to aid you in your journey, along with hundreds of artifacts and equipment that will help you further specialize and craft your build.
Players who participate in the open beta will receive bonus cosmetics and drop boosts, depending on what platform -- PWE's Arc or the Epic Games Store -- they play on. Magic: Legends will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date.
