LOTRO's Server Transfer Queues Didn't Get Any Smaller Over The Weekend, Leaving Thousands Out In The Cold

Many players are still waiting on their character transfers in Lord of the Rings Online nearly a week after they were supposed to happen. Producer Rob Ciccolini estimates that some 100K characters are still in the queue waiting to move to the new 64-bit servers as the weekend comes to an end.

I, for one, got very lucky, and my transfers went through Saturday morning, but many, including my Kin leader, are still waiting on their characters to move. This is important seeing as how Kin leaders were supposed to transfer and login first in order to ensure that the Kin remains established, but it sort of became a free-for-all once the transfer issues began.

Going into the weekend, the LOTRO devs estimated that it would take 48 hours for a transfer to go through, but it now looks like that was a best-case scenario as many players find themselves without a home on the new servers several days later. The entire process has been a bit frustrating, with the transfer wizard having multiple issues, including the hourglass of doom and blank world screens when trying to transfer.

Here's hoping the transfers get sorted this week since the Spring Festival event is coming up on Thursday. Even players who, like myself, have already seen their transfers go through, are still waiting on Kin leaders to be able to log in to their main characters so as not to lose their join dates and other info in the Kin. I guess my little baby Captain will continue to get some play time while my level 150s wait on our Kin leader.

The upside is that there are some spectacular memes over on Reddit.
