LoTRO New Housing Interview

The Lord of the Rings Online devs from Standing Stone Games discussed upcoming housing plans with Deco du Milieu, a magazine dedicated to the game's housing feature. The interview revealed the next neighborhood won't be human or dwarf, and they've got plenty of updates coming to make the system "more robust."

Deco du Milieu invited Community Manager Cordovan, Lead World Builder/Housing Specialist Scenario, and Lead System Designer/Housing Specialist Orion for the hour-long interview. From the beginning, Scenario's statement on the future housing neighborhood says that an Elf or Hobbit habitat is likely in development. It's still in a prototype phase, however, and the devs don't have much to say about it outside of the ideas they have in mind.

Some improvements headed to the feature in the future are apartment-style housing, the ability to run instances from housing, yard upgrades, new decorating options, and plenty more. Though, changes aside, the LotRO devs are focused on "growing the system with each new thing to make it more robust."

Much of these improvements are more-so technical feats for the game since the devs have often made workarounds for the trickier parts of the system. By making housing more robust, they can "really expand the system" and bring even more "new functionality and feature sets that would be an improvement through housing overall."

There's no timeline to speak of when the interview wraps up, but fans could definitely look forward to more housing love after learning more about the headspace of the devs. You can read more on everything discussed during the interview on Deco du Milieu's website.
