Lost Ark Weirdly Swaps The Summoner Class Out Of Launch And Replaces It With The Sorceress
The Summoner will return to the game at a later date.
We’re getting ever closer to Lost Ark's launch early next year and as they continue preparations to launch the game, Smilegate has made an interesting, and perhaps befuddling, change. If you were expecting to play a Summoner at launch, you’ll want to have a backup plan as today they announced a new Sorceress class would be taking the place of the Summoner in the game’s launch lineup. This doesn’t mean you won’t eventually be able to play as the Summoner, it just means that particular class won’t be one of the fifteen we see at launch.
Based on the information on the Sorceress reveal post, it seems this decision was made as a way to offer players some of the newer classes already available in Korea while still maintaining the fifteen class count at launch. The Sorceress is the latest class to be added to the Korean game, joining the lineup back in August. The post also states that the developers wanted to offer a wide range of playstyles as well as include any classes that have both male and female options (I'm not sure the Sorceress does), rather than those that are gender-locked, early on.
The Sorceress is an elemental class, using fire, ice, and lightning in battle. Her elemental abilities range from dropping meteor fragments on her enemies to firing ice arrows that not only wound the enemies, but also slows them down. A detailed rundown of her powers is available on the class page. You can also get a peek at her in the trailer below.
