League Of Legends-Based CCG Legends Of Runeterra Open Beta Begins January 24
League of Legends fans are going to get their hands on the upcoming Legends of Runeterra CCG a bit sooner than expected. Riot Games announced via YouTube over the weekend that the game's open beta will begin on Friday, January 24. The beta date was actually moved to an earlier date in response to player anticipation.
The open beta will launch with a ranked mode as well as a full competitive season that lasts the entire open beta period. It will also include a friend challenge feature that allow players to challenge... well... their friends. (MtG: Arena, that's how you do this!) Anyone they have on their social panel can be challenged to a friendly match.
Interestingly, the announcement also covers some of the game's monetization. Cards are earned via progression, leaving the cash shop to sell cosmetic items such as emotes, game boards, and more.
