League Of Legends Reveals New Electric Champion, Zeri, Teases "Sinister" Support And "Terrifying" Jungler
Also: Udyr loses his antlers.
We've often joked about how Riot Games is finally putting the "s" in the "Games" part of its name, with Valorant, Legends of Runterra, Project L, and several other titles launched or in development. But the developer's original big game is still chugging right along, and Riot had a few things to reveal today about the new champions coming to League of Legends.
Champions Team Lead Ryan "Reav3" Mireles hosted the video that described the team's plans for champions in 2022. They'll be coming at a slightly slower-than-anticipated pace, so that the champions could release "when they are ready, even if that means we don't hit a specific quota for the year." That also means that every role might not see a new champion every year.
The first new champion revealed was lightning-powered Zeri, "a hyperactive bot lane carry," who uses her Q ability the way other champions would use their auto attacks, meant to give her a "rapid fire" style of play. You can see the full rundown of her abilities on the LoL site.
A new support enchanter, with a sinister feel "that makes support players feel like the boss that they are," is also on the horizon, along with a "terrifying new jungler" -- who appeared to take over Mireles' mind for a short time and ramble about purple things.
There's also a new dev blog about Udyr, who players voted on last year for a visual and graphic update (VGU). The big change for Udyr? He's lost his antlers. Finally, there's a new vote live now, for players to select which champion gets a VGU this year. You can read about the vote here, but you can only cast your vote from within the League client until January 19.
