League Of Legends Announces Plans To Change Structure Of Ranked Season
Ranked will now be split up with three resets a year.
Changes are coming to the League of Legends Ranked system. Of course, players can expect the usual changes, terrain adjustments, map fixes, and the like, but there’s something bigger happening. Riot has decided to break ranked up. Now, rather than spending the whole year on ranked, with probably the last quarter of that being downtime, players will be able to complete three cycles a year. This means less downtime, and more opportunities to earn skins in the MOBA – three per year.
The other thing this shift should do is make sure things are more exciting as ranked changes will align better with when players are actually allowed to make use of those changes competitively. They’ll have a faster climb during each split as well – which makes sense as there are only four months between resets instead of twelve.
This new system will technically kick in January 2024. The pre-season will arrive on the PBE in November.
