Latest Skull And Bones Dev Blog Teaches Players More About Ship-to-Ship Combat
Learn all about strategizing.
The Skull and Bones dev team is back with another blog on how to prepare for battle on the open seas. Last time they went over how to prepare for combat in general. This time, they’re going deeper and focusing on strategy. This is the post that addresses active combat. Specifically, it covers ship-to-ship combat with focuses on strategy and – the important part when you’re a pirate – looting.
On the strategy front, the post covers the game’s weapon counter system, armor types, ships’ weak points, status effects, crew-to-crew combat, and how to outmaneuver enemies. With customizable ships, players will need to pay close attention to their loadout. Different weapons do different things and players will need to know these differences and make the best use of them to come out on top in combat. This means paying attention to the target’s defenses when attacking and using the appropriate weapon to get through them. At the same time, players will need to do their best to mitigate damage coming in. This is what you’ll be learning about as you read through today’s dev blog.
As for the looting, less time is spent discussing this topic. That’s partially due to the fact that the combat is what will set players up to get their hands on the enemy’s trove. Players will need to wear the other ship down – preferably without sinking it and everything on it. Instead, players have the option to cripple the ship as much as possible without sinking it. At this point, they can send their crew over – provided their fury bar is full – and engage in hand-to-hand combat. If done right, they’ll walk away with the enemy ship’s coffers. Then they can sink it.
