Late to the Party: EA announces MOBA Dawngate
EA has had a less than stellar track record when it comes to Free-to-Play games and their recent business decisions in general. The company has been slowly expanding their F2P offerings with mixed reception in each notable genre. They have some F2P shooters (Battlefield Play4Free and Heroes), a racing game (Need for Speed World), an MMORPG (SWTOR), an RTS (Command and Conquer Generals) and now they can add MOBA to the list as well.
A Twitter user by the name of superannuation uncovered the Dawngate website while also speculating that Waystone Games the company credited for Dawngate, is actually a rebranded portion of Visceral Games. Viseral Games are of course, the developers behind Dead Space who were said to be working on a MOBA last year. This could very well be that MOBA or EA is planning on releasing two MOBA-like games although that seems highly unlikely.
Details regarding Dawngate are practically nonexistent right now. The website mentions Dawngate being "built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay". Ya gee, thanks I really appreciate you just describing what every other new MOBA wants to do.
The description goes on to say that Dawngate "empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community driven content and story". You really can't extrapolate too much from that statement other than to assume some level of player customization (which what MOBA doesn't have that) in addition to some evolving world which the community takes part in creating.
That's all the info there is at the moment. The website also has a registration page for those wishing to sign up for the closed beta and a link to a forum page which at the time of writing this, doesn't appear to be working.

And also, I'm sorry, but GamingMaster, that is the dumbest thing I've EVER read on this site. "When will this genre die?" Sorry kid, League of Legends is the most played game in the world, making MOBAs the most popular e-sport as well. This genre isn't going anywhere, learn to accept it.
also EA sucks :) all their games are P2W
Sure it's EA but they can still make good games, if they don't mess this up that is.
Even though I don't like MOBA games, I don't think any genre deserves to be under EA. My disgust for EA is another story for another day...
