No, The Next PUBG Game Won't Be A Battle Royale, It'll Be An Extraction Shooter According To Krafton
The game should drop sometime in 2024.
If you thought the next PUBG game would be another battle royale, think again. According to the latest financial report from Krafton the team at PUBG Studios is now working on an extraction shooter. There will still be a lot of pew-pew, just not quite the same format. Instead, players will be getting PvPvE fights on a sandbox map where the goal is to be extracted before getting killed.
The game, currently titled "Project Black Budget," is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024. It’s one of the company’s “major pipeline titles” along with The Next Subnautica and an action-adventure sandbox titled "Project Gold Rush."
It’s an interesting choice, considering the popularity of PUBG. In fact, according to the financials, the revenue for the game’s PC version is up 98% over the year before. Still, we’re going to have to wait a while to see how Project Black Budget turns out.
